The Media Arts Committee (MAC), supported by CRES, is dedicated to serving, supporting, and building on the sound art and experimental audio community in ‘so called’ Canada, while centering the voices of BIPOC, 2SLGBTQQIA+, Disabled, Deaf/deaf and Hard of Hearing communities.
MAC is run by a small, dedicated team of artists and arts administrators on the stolen territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) nations.
At a time where the concept of “self care” can be resold and packaged in a way that can feel exploitative or coercive, how do you respond to these pressures? What is self care for you? How do social, familial, and cultural influences impact your choices and perceptions of self care?
The selected proposals will ultimately result in a five-week residency deadline, with the completion of stereo compositions that will be presented as a group compilation of all artists selected for this call.
